Newgrange – Bookmark of Newgrange Co. Meath

Newgrange – Bookmark of Newgrange Co. Meath. Newgrange is a Stone Age (Neolithic) monument in the Boyne Valley, Ireland’s Ancient East, and one of the most important prehistoric sites in Ireland. Constructed around 5,200 years ago (3,200 B.C.), it predates both Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids of Giza. Located 8km from Drogheda, Co. Louth near Donore,  access to Newgrange is via the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre. Newgrange is best known for the illumination of its passage and chamber by the winter solstice sun on the shortest days of the year, around December 21st, the winter solstice.

On the reverse of this bookmark, find a snippet of Newgranges’s prehistoric origins. The image on this bookmark is from an original painting from Jolene Matthews. It was painted in watercolours at the site – whilst sitting on top of a wheelie bin across the road to be exact, on a Summer’s evening! This bookmark is 60mm x 180mm, double-sided, soft touch, round cornered, punched at top, laminated bookmark with tassel. Find out more about Newgrange here. Get any three bookmarks for €10!
